First
Mary
Whittemore
you
put me
between your hands
and squeezed
we were
squaring off—
opponents
you knew
you had
to open, fall
somewhere
and thrash
sweetly, then
though you did
this first time
I felt as though I
had quickened
curved, destroyed
as though I
had weakened
given you divined letters
sweetened landscape out of bone
