Downtown at Chino's

Life comes in a Scotch
maybe a fine Cuban cigar
bull shitting politics
with Al, who's always reading the Times
and looking for a seven letter word
betting on a Yankees game
with the bartender
who knows you by name
leaving a few mint greens
for the bus boy
cause it's his first night

Annie Banks is a freshman at Mount St. Mary's College. She plans to pursue a degree in English and become a professor. She enjoys reading British and American literature; Oscar Wilde, J. D. Salinger, and Sylvia Plath are the writers who have most inspired her. For providing valuable insight into her work, she thanks Meghan Klunk, a true kindred spirit, and Matt Farley, whose devotion and companionship have enriched her life.
