Dust Jacket

His photograph on the back cover
Or as we say the dust jacket

The space around him filled with praise

The spine rigid

We are happy to put a face to a name
To watch it age volume to volume
To come to resemble the volumes

The way as we say a master does his dog

Barry Seiler has published four books of poems: Frozen Falls, The Waters of Forgetting, Retaining Wall, and Black Leaf. "Dust Jacket," "Window," and "Pincushion" are part of "Flotsam," a sequence of about thirty poems. He divides his time between urban northern New Jersey and rural upstate New York.
