"These four paintings were finished in 2004. That said, one of them was begun in 1996, and all of them received my attention for several years. I painted many different paintings on each canvas during that time. Some layers were figurative, others more abstract or obscured. Eventually the layers began to add up and I saw something unexpected. Maybe there was a drawing in the surface texture. Or two of the layers became visible at the same time as the light in the room changed. What I saw may have frightened me, or simply resonated in some way that was difficult to explain.
Give these images a little of your time. Allow them to surprise you as well. And if you have a moment, send me an email, I'd love to hear about what you see."
