Wormholes

posted Nov 18, 2008

We got here somehow, walked through an entrance—
immaterial. Somewhere between a front door and a wormhole.
Gravity joined our stuff, but theory borrowed your pants.
We got here somehow, walked through an entrance—
Garage door or gateway, force field or fence,
the work of souls or a structure we stole,
we got here somehow, walked through an entrance—
immaterial. Somewhere between a front door and a wormhole.

Sarah Byker James teaches writing at Rutgers University in Camden, where she completed her MA in English. Her poems have appeared recently in 42opus, caesura, and MARGIE. She lives in Philadelphia.
