Her Real Name

Harold Bowes

This may be a reach

It's about someone we know named Rose
who now wants to go by Lynn
Which is hard to get used to

Makes me think of the long
Intertwined vines on the rose
That kind of go on forever, like DNA

If the rose stems are DNA
that would make the flowers
a mechanism for reproduction

Which would mean we,
and by that I mean people,
are collectively and individually

merely an expression of DNA,
a flower appearing briefly,
a mechanism for reproduction

My name is Rose too
though I want to go by Harold
